概要

テーマ：東アジア〜青年の考える未来と共生〜

2005年6月に創設した日米ユースフォーラムは参加者の支持をえて回を重ね、今年で第6回を迎えます。
昨年は高円宮妃殿下の御臨席を賜り『社会変革(Social Innovation)』を討議し、好評でした。
今年は『東アジア』をテーマとし、（社）日米協会との協力の下、日米及び関係各国の青年代表の元気な声を世界に届けます。民族、言語、宗教、社会体制も異なる東アジアの国々は、他方で共通の文化や歴史的背景を持ち、近年の成長は目を見張ります。第６回日米ユースフォーラムでは日米に加え、中国、韓国、シンガポールからも学生パネリストを招待し、違いや困難を乗り越え、東アジアでの共通の未来を築くにはどうしたらよいか、青年は何を出来るかを討議致します。

Theme：East Asia ~ Youth meeting its future challenges~

Since its foundation in June 2005, the U.S.-Japan Youth Forum has been well-received as an opportunity to hear the voices of our future leaders. At the previous forum in 2009, the theme "Youth Challenge to Social Innovation" was explored through frank exchange of views among the panelists and the audience, impressing all who attended the gathering.We were especially honored to have H.I.H Princess Takamado as our special guest.

This year, we are proud to present the 6th U.S.-Japan Youth Forum focusing on “East Asia”, with the support of the America-Japan Society.

East Asia is recently experiencing a remarkable economic growth. Although East Asian countries have common cultural and historical backgrounds to a certain extent,the differences in race, language, religion and social structure still leave room for misunderstandings to take place.Furthermore, countries in this region face many challenging issues, such as security, energy, environment, domestic economic disparity and rapid aging of society.

We welcome panelists from other Asian countries along with the Japanese and American panelists. Now is an opportune time for the young leaders of East Asian countries to gather and discuss what the youth can do to bridge the differences and overcome the difficulties that lie ahead.
